Last year the Boise Pride March entertained over 1,000
people and this year we hope to raise the figure even higher! With such a
large and diverse crowd, the possibilities are many for parade contingents.
In the past we’ve had groups of all shapes and sizes, some with floats, some
without...and we’re glad you want to be part of this exciting mix! Each year
we have over twenty groups participate and we expect to have just as
many again this year.
When: Saturday June 12th 2004,
1:00pm
Time: Check-in is at 11:00am at the State House Lawn.
Where: Starts at State House Steps and ends at The Grove in Boise.
Who: All organizations and businesses who want to participate. |
Specifics:
- Pride Floats (any motorized vehicle) will be charged a fee of $35.00 so you
have a "rider" on YFFN's Insurance Policy for the Parade ($1,000,000). This
policy covers any accident that is caused by the Parade and inflicted on City
property, participants and non-participants.
- A Parade is much different from a March.
- A Parade is a "Class C" hazard risk because motor vehicles & especially
Floats are more of a concern to the City.
- All Motor Vehicles must have one person walking on each side of the vehicle
(2 total) to prevent people from causing an accident.
- People on Floats must stay on or off the Float while in motion.
- Marching Contingents are asked to contribute a $15 donation to help
supplement the cost of the permits, police, traffic control, etc.
- However, a donation is completely voluntary and any/all groups are welcome
to march in the parade.
- It would be GREAT to see A LOT of Floats, and we know we all have that
special "flair" for decorating!
- A good way to pay for a Float is to have a Business in town Sponsor your
Float Entry Fee & the cost of the Float itself.
- A motorcycle contingent would be treated as one float.
- The City of Boise does permit horses to be ridden in the parade. As with
walking contingents, an equestrian group would be asked for a nominal donation
to help cover the cost of insurance, however no special insurance rider is
required. Cleanup is the responsibility of the participating group.
- The DEADLINE for REGISTRATION is May 31st ,2004!! A fee will be
added for late entries!
The only other requirement is to have FUN!
