ANTI-VIOLENCE PROJECT NEEDS A LEADER

Basic/Immediate Needs:
Gather information for the web and a handout that:
- explains what defines a hate crime, with examples
of what is and isn't.
- lists who to call if you believe you have been or
know someone who is a victim of a hate crime.
- has a list of local counselors
- provides links to hate crime sites and
anti-violence projects across the country.
Ultimate
goals/responsibilities for this project:
- maintain a website with all the info above
- maintain publications (pamphlets, handouts) with condensed
versions of the web info
- maintain contacts with local law enforcement (police and judicial
system), the Ada County Human Rights Task Force, the Idaho Human
Rights Commission, etc.
- coordinate regular self-defense classes (YFFN has people trained,
they just need to start holding regular classes!)
- prepare and provide a presentation on hate crimes that local
groups can ask for.
- present an annual report on Hate crimes in Idaho
- make monthly reports to the YFFN board and present an annual
budget.

Basic/Immediate Needs:
Keep our database up to date.
- maintain weekly updates of new information into the database
- prints out members whose membership expire every
month.
- print out labels for mailings when needed.
Ultimate
goals/responsibilities for this project:
- transition database to ebase (www.ebase.org)
- develop documentation and training guides
- develop standards for database entry.
- develop standards for YFFN software upgrades and backup procedures
for database
Data Entry Volunteers (3)
Time: at least twice a month.
- Precise, organized, trustworthy person
- computer skills
Mailing Coordinator (1)
Time: about once a month
- Fun person good at motivating volunteers and making people feel
welcome.
- Will call others to organize mailing parties as requested.
Mailing Crew (10)
Time: about once a month.
- anyone willing to stick labels on envelopes, eat snacks and chat
one evening a month or so
- must be able to follow instructions :)
Postering Coordinator (1)
Time: about once a month.
- energetic person with transportation
- hang posters and organize others to hang posters (or post
educational materials) about YFFN events
Postering Crew (3)
Time: about once a month.
- reliable people with transportation willing to hang posters or
post educational materials about YFFN events around the area.
Tableing Coordinator (1)
Time: about once a month.
- very outgoing and personable person who likes to talk and meet
people.
- understands GLBT issues & YFFN's projects
- willing to coordinate volunteers at community events in the
Treasure Valley.
- schedules, organizes, and plans YFFN tabling opportunties (booths,
conferences, etc.)
Tableing Crew (8)
Time: about once a month.
- very outgoing and personable person who likes to talk and meet
people.
- understands GLBT issues & YFFN's projects
- will often be public face for YFFN
Rally/Action Coordinator (1)
Time: about every 3 months
- person willing to help out with logistics and planning of rallies
and actions on GLBT issues.
- will know how to reserve Capitol steps and sound system.
- get other volunteers organized
- may have role in creating fun, meaningful theatrical actions for
events & educational efforts
Rally/Action Crew (8)
Time: about every 3 months
- Willing to help plan/set up rallies and actions.
Thank you Note writer (2)
Time: about once a month
- someone with good writing skills and legible hand writing willing
to write thank you notes on behalf of YFFN for donations, in-kind
gifts, volunteer work, etc.
