2006 Boise Pride Volunteer Needs


YFFN volunteers and board members work hard to continue to bring you some great events, inspirational speakers, and overall wonderful experiences for Boise Pride!

We can't do it without the help of our many dedicated volunteers who help us keep our Pride events  affordable, fun,  and moderately well organized.  They also help us keep our Pride Week less  commercialized and more of a community event!.

We would love it if you and your friends are able to join us in these goals by volunteering for some  of the events  listed below.  If you see something you want to do, the use the form below to let us know!

Festival Setup Volunteers
We need at least six people to help setup the Grove for the festival from 8am until 11am on the day of the Festival (June 10th).  We need at least two volunteers to help out from 8am until 1pm.   You should be able to follow instructions, lift at least 45 pounds, and work well with others.
Needed: 6 volunteers from 8am until 11am , 2 volunteers from 8am until 1pm.


Festival Maintenance
We need folks to help us do garbage/cleanup runs every hour  throughout the festival to keep things clean and tidy (and to make the final cleanup easier!)  You should be able to lift 45 pounds and work well with others.
Needed: 2 to 3 volunteers each hour (2pm, 3pm, 4pm, 5pm) to do a sweep of the festival for debris and full garbage cans.


Festival Cleanup
We need folks to help us clean up the festival and break down tents/tables/chairs after the festival is over. Need to be able to lift 45 pounds and work well with others.
Needed: 10 people from 6pm until 7pm on June 10th.


Parade Monitors
Parade monitors are assigned to specific intersections and will help the police with traffic control.  Parade monitors will be loaned an orange safety vest and whistle.  You should be able to follow instructions from police officers, remain calm, and be authoritative when need be.
Needed:  10 Parade Monitors  from 12:40pm -1:30pm (during the Pride parade on June 10th)


Rally/Parade Security
Security volunteers should attend at least one, preferably two, of the training sessions held on Monday May 24th from 6-9pm and Saturday May 29th from 3-6pm at The Community Center (919 N 27th St in Boise)   Security will help keep the peace and ensure a safe Pride rally and parade for everyone! You should be able to remain calm in stressful situations, be firm when needed, and be able to work well with others.
Needed: 5 more security volunteers.  11am -1:30pm on Saturday June 10th.


Rally Buttons/Handout Volunteers
We need folks to circulate through the crowd at the Rally selling Pride buttons and handing out pamphlets to all who attend.
Needed: 8 volunteers 11:15am until 12:30am on Saturday June 10th


Rally Cleanup
We need some volunteers to scour the capitol steps after the parade has formed to clean up any debris and leave the place as clean as, if not cleaner, than when we got there.
Needed: 2 volunteers from 12:45-1:00pm


Beer Booth Volunteers
We need people to help check ID's, sell beer tickets, and pour beer during the festival.  You should be able to be responsible with alcohol, be of at 21 years of age, and be able to have fun!
Needed: at least four people for each shift
